June 22—OBCI Welcomes Jean O’Brien

OBCI Welcomes Jean O’Brien — The Otto Baum team is pleased to announce that Jean O’Brien has been hired to fill the receptionist position at our headquarters in Morton, Illinois. Jean brings with her many years of experience and we look forward to her service.

March 28—Dave Stewart promoted to General Superintendent

OBCI is pleased to announce that Dave Stewart has been promoted to General Superintendent. Dave’s responsibilities will include management of all OBCI equipment and project management of earthwork scopes. Dave joins Bruce Tesdall and Larry Jones in the management of the Morton offices concrete and earthwork operations.

March 17—Jerry Flemming joins OBCI as Director of Safety and Risk Management

OBCI is pleased to announce that Jerry Flemming has joined the OBCI team and serves as the Director of Safety and Risk Management. Jerry worked many years for a large national General Contractor based in St. Louis and brings to OBCI a new level of expertise as we build our safety culture and prevent incidents on all OBCI projects.

Awards

April 6— Matt Wallis completes OSHA 30 certification…

OBCI Finisher Superintendent Matt Wallis recently completed OSHA 30 training and received his certification. Matt completed this training online utilizing Click Safety’s web-based training program. Matt has been assigned to be the Superintendent for contract work OBCI has with Turner Construction regarding Hamilton Blvd Improvements with Methodist Hospital. We congratulate Matt on this achievement and his commitment to safety.

March 24— IDOT 2008 Contractor of the Year…

Otto Baum Company received an IDOT Award of Excellence for Urban Improvement. The awarded project was the revitalization of West Main, North Fairview and Fairview Park in Decatur.

Secretary of Transportation, Milton Sees presented the award December 9, 2008 at the 102nd Annual Convention for Associated General Contractors of Illinois.

The Award was replicated at the March 16 Decatur City Council meeting, with Roger Driscoll of Region 4 IDOT presenting and Don Allen of Otto Baum Company Inc. accepting.

March 24— American Public Works Association 2009 Competition Winner…

The American Public Works Association has recognized Otto Baum Company Inc. with two awards:

Public Works Project of the Year in the category of Structures (less than $2 million) for the Village of Forsyth new Public Works Building.

Public Works Project of the Year in the category of Transportation ($2–$10 million) for the West Main Street Streetscape Improvements for the city of Decatur.
